When you create a Mivva account we collect your name, email address, and the college planning information you share with us — including schools you're considering, scholarships, budget assumptions, and deadlines. If you use the conversation preview before registering, we temporarily store your messages associated with an anonymous session token stored in your browser.
We use your information to power your personalized college planning workspace, generate your Money Map, surface relevant scholarships, and provide AI-assisted planning guidance. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent.
If you link a credit union to your profile, that credit union may receive aggregate, anonymized data about planning trends among their linked members. They do not receive your individual financial details, conversation history, or personal information without your explicit consent. Your credit union link can be removed at any time from your profile.
Your planning conversations are processed by AI language models to generate responses and update your plan. Conversation content is stored securely and associated with your account. We retain conversation history to provide continuity in your planning experience. You may request deletion of your conversation history by contacting us.
If you invite a parent or guardian to view your plan, they will have read-only access to your Money Map, deadlines, and planning stage. You control this access and can revoke it at any time from your profile.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use Supabase for data storage, which provides row-level security ensuring your data is only accessible to you and authorized parties. We conduct regular security reviews.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at privacy@mivva.org. We will respond within 30 days. Deletion requests will result in permanent removal of your account and associated data.
We will notify you by email of material changes to this privacy policy. Continued use of Mivva after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
